birds

I woke up to the sound of birds today. Six o’clock in the morning and I am sitting in front of the window looking at two small fat birds on the windowsill making an incredible amount of noise for being such small creatures. I have never been much of a nature lover, but i am enjoying this moment very much.

The birds have their little habitat in the garden of one of my neighbours. The window of my small apartment looks out straight into this garden. I work at home, my desk right in front of the window and the family living next to me has been a source of welcome distractions during the long wintermonths. Nothing very exciting: dad putting the garbage in the bin, the cleaning lady on thursdays, teenage son standing outside to smoke a sigaret.

The view has changed now. Over the last few weeks the flowers and the trees have bloomed and i now have the privilege to see some nature while i am working. And of being woken up by loud conversations between fat little birds.

For ding ding

This is a weblog for friends who live far away and who might be interested in hearing about my life and my thoughts about the bigger and the smaller things in life. But i am especially dedicating it to a very good friend of mine who lives in Beijing. She is a great lover of words and i am afraid my words will not be poetic or grand enough for her liking, but i hope she will enjoy this blog all the same. I miss you, my friend and i wish you many more interesting afternoons reading books and drinking coffee.
